about us
theCADlab was founded to support innovators by becoming the much needed link between initial concepts and full scale manufacturing.
Our founders have experienced first-hand the difficulties of getting a product off the ground and understand the importance of getting a working prototype. As a result, we have devised a streamlined service to handle all of the technical work involved in making your idea a reality.
Founded at the start of 2021, theCADlab began giving prototyping and design support to companies at the start of their journeys. Since then many of those companies have gone on to win awards, raise funding for further development or have begun to receive their product in quantity from global manufacturers.
We have so far worked with companies in Ireland, mainland Europe and the United States. Our services are fully flexible and can be delivered globally.
Our Team
Brian Foley
Brian is a mechanical engineer, a Certified Solidworks Professional (CSWP) and has experience in designing products for manufacture. Brian has successfully led the design of multiple prototypes for research projects and clients over his career. His experience with developing products from initial concept stage as well as designing for full scale manufacture will be invaluable to the success of your product.
Seán Power
Seán is a mechatronic engineer specialising in prototyping, embedded system, printed circuit board and product design. His doctorate focuses on marine biological optical sensor development and he is involved in Horizon 2020 and Enterprise Ireland funded research and innovation projects like A-WaMS and TechOceanS. Seán has a passion for entrepreneurship and has assisted in founding startups ranging from environmentally sustainable products to pain therapy devices.
Tom English
Tom has worked in design and manufacturing for 11 years, becoming highly skilled in all areas of design and modelling. His expertise includes CNC prototyping, such as laser cutting, milling, turning, and, in particular, 3D printing. As a major contributor with the Aula Maxima Group, Tom helped produce and distribute thousands of visors from his home for frontline staff and at-risk patients during the PPE crisis of 2020—a dedicated team effort to support those in need.
